I myself a long time lover of Guinness pub draught just picked up a dozen of the 16 OZ nitro cans. The first think that caught my eye was the fact that a 4 pack of Murphy's was $1.00 less than a 14 pack of Guinness extra dry 14.9 OX beer. That concerned me a little and since the stout was previously unavailable in my area outside it's international reputation it was an unknown beer. Making certain that the beer was thoroughly chilled I pulled the tab and got the familiar nitro whistle and poured. It reacted a bit like Guinness in that the bubbles appeared to flow downward before circling and then rising again.

There was little in the way of fragrance to fill the nose and the beer was the color of coffee. The head was a bit thicker than what I've experienced with Guinness. There was not only some serious lacing going on but I could reach into the class, run my fingers across, and scoop it like up frosting. The flavors gave strong hints of unsweetened chocolate and coffee that sat wonderfully in the mouth and excited the back of the palate. All in all an excellent find with all the joys of a decent pub stout. I have to agree that for this style of beer in perspective a 9.5 is in order.

Both my husband & I tried this stout last weekend, and we did not like the toasty taste it had. For me it was really bitter. It had a great appearance but disappointed with the taste of it. My husband also wrote a review on it. Feel free to check it out.

Great choice. This is one of my favorites. Don't forget to try the white and red labels. Also, skip the small bottles and go for the 1000ml! This stuff never gets boring and you're always disappointed to find the bottom of the glass.
